While Smokefree Movies has spotlighted producers and directors who have made movies that recruit the most kids for Big Tobacco, the reality is that there are also many who have quietly kept their films smokefree.
They have shown that it is possible to make successful films without serving Big Tobacco and are point towards the future when smoking in youth-rated films will be an odd artifact of the past.
The only question is how much pressure it will take for the media companies and their MPAA to accept the fact that onscreen smoking is more than artistic expression: it is toxic.
