Company tobacco history
The Walt Disney Company added most of 21st Century Fox to its media portfolio in March 2019, including a large collection of Fox films and TV shows with smoking. (Fox used to trade board members with tobacco giant Philip Morris.) Red-lighting a number of Fox films in development last year, Disney avoided violating its firm no-cigarettes policy. Disney also labels smoking in old movies on its Disney+ streamer. But Disney's tobacco policy on Hulu — where most Fox legacy material will appear — is not yet clear. Meanwhile, Disney gets full credit for not promoting smoking in its blockbuster, world-export films from Marvel and other labels.
